What are RubOns?       Pricelist
Instructions for Interproof RubOns

1. To transfer RubOns you need only a burnishing tool, a pencil and a pair of scissors.

2. The object’s surface must be dry and free of oil and dust. It must have a non-repellent surface. RubOns should only be transferred at room temperature.

4. Remove the protective backing from the reverse side and position the RubOn. Avoid applying any pressure to the image in order to prevent premature detaching of individual elements of the image.

3. First cut out the image you want to transfer, allowing an adequate border around it. You should cut as close to the image as possible only for objects with a highly convex shape for example a Pilsner beer glass.

5. Hold the RubOn securely in place and rub all parts of the image with a burnishing tool or pencil. With soft surfaces (e.g. photos, Chromolux), you should test beforehand to see how to prevent rub marks.

6. Grey areas indicate that the image has already detached from the carrier material. Hold the carrier material tightly in position on one end while you lift it from the other end. In case parts of the image are still on the carrier material, flip it back into position and continue rubbing.

8. In some instances it is technically necessary for us to apply adhesive to the entire printing surface. If this is the case, light traces of adhesive could be visible after the transfer.

Drip a small amount of lighter fluid onto a soft paper towel.
7. Now take the protective backing and place it with the siliconized side over the transferred image. Using the burnishing tool or pencil, once again rub everything very carefully. Now take the protective backing and place it with the siliconized side over the transferred image. 9. Try to wipe in the direction along the fine lines. It is usually sufficient to wipe once from one side to the other.

10. If you still don’t feel confident transferring your RubOns yourself, request extra samples with your order to test the process. With a bit of practice it will go much easier, and along the way you can test your object’s surface without having to use your own prints.

And if you prefer us to transfer the RubOns for you, we are happy to do so.

ou may not believe it, but thanks to Interproof, RubOns have been available in Germany for more than 40 years. They are still the perfect solution for printing individual pieces.
